In a move that diverges from the industry trend of price increases, Mahindra has announced reductions in the prices of select XUV700 variants. The price cuts, reaching up to Rs 75,000, apply to specific AX7 and AX7 L models, making the SUV more competitive in the market.
Mahindra’s XUV700 lineup includes the MX, AX3, AX5 S, AX5, AX7, and AX7 L trims. The latest price revision affects the AX7 and AX7 L variants as follows:
- AX7 Variants: Petrol-automatic and diesel-automatic 7-seater versions now cost Rs 45,000 less.
- AX7 L Variants: Petrol-automatic and diesel (manual and automatic) 7-seater models receive a price cut of Rs 75,000.
- Unchanged Pricing: The AX7 petrol manual (6-seater and 7-seater) and AX7 diesel manual (6-seater and 7-seater) models retain their previous prices.
The adjusted pricing structure for the XUV700 is as follows:
Petrol Models:
- AX7 Petrol AT 7-seater: Now Rs 20.99 lakh (Rs 45,000 reduction)
- AX7 Petrol AT 6-seater: Now Rs 21.19 lakh (Rs 45,000 reduction)
- AX7 L Petrol AT 7-seater: Now Rs 23.19 lakh (Rs 75,000 reduction)
- AX7 L Petrol AT 6-seater: Now Rs 23.39 lakh (Rs 75,000 reduction)
Diesel Models:
- AX7 Diesel MT 7-seater: Rs 19.99 lakh (unchanged)
- AX7 Diesel MT 6-seater: Rs 20.19 lakh (unchanged)
- AX7 Diesel AT 7-seater: Now Rs 21.69 lakh (Rs 45,000 reduction)
- AX7 Diesel AT 6-seater: Now Rs 21.89 lakh (Rs 45,000 reduction)
- AX7 Diesel AWD AT 7-seater: Now Rs 22.89 lakh (Rs 45,000 reduction)
- AX7 L Diesel variants (MT & AT, 6-seater & 7-seater): Now priced between Rs 22.24 lakh and Rs 24.99 lakh (Rs 75,000 reduction)
Despite the price revision, Mahindra has maintained the feature set across the affected variants. The reduction contrasts with recent price hikes announced by competitors, including Maruti Suzuki, Kia, Tata Motors, Honda, and Hyundai, citing increased production costs.
One possible reason for Mahindra’s pricing strategy could be the rising interest in its upcoming electric SUVs, including the XEV 9e and BE 6. Some buyers may consider upgrading to the XEV 9e instead of the XUV700, influencing this pricing adjustment. Mahindra is also expected to launch the electric variant of the XUV700, the XEV 7e, later this year.
